Cryptic Carnival - AOS Bracknell - Saturday 21st March

Welcome back, one and all, for the latest iteration of our 'Cryptic Carnival' series of AoS tournaments. 

In these we celebrate the whole hobby, not just the ability to win; points are available for winning games, as well as excellent paintjobs, amazing conversions and being the best sport. After all, the hobby doesn't begin when you start rolling dice - and today we celebrate that; the event champion will be the player who scores the best across all categories!

The event uses 'Matched Play' rules for gameplay balance, though especially cheesy or 'meta' lists are discouraged and fun, silly lists are very much encouraged!

Event Plan

• Doors Open: 9:00am
  
• Mission Briefing and Event Introduction: 9:15. Players must arrive by this point.
• Round 1: 9:30am-12:00pm:
• Lunch: 12:00pm-12:45pm
• Round 2:12:45pm-3:15pm: 
• Break: 3:15pm-3:30pm
• Round 3: 3:30pm-6:00pm: 

Scoring & Awards

This event celebrates all aspects of the hobby. Final scores are out of 60 points, based on the following:

1. Gameplay Record (0–15 pts)

Points awarded based on win/loss/draw results. The best gameplay record wins a prize.

2. Sportsmanship (0–15 pts)

During Round 3, players vote for their favourite opponent.
+5 pts per vote, max 3 votes.

3. Painting (0–15 pts)

At lunch, all armies are displayed. Players vote for the top 3 painted armies:

• 1st = +5 pts

• 2nd = +4 pts

• 3rd = +3 pts

Max 15 points count toward score. Best Painted is awarded based on total 1st-place votes.

Painted armies are encouraged for this event and will factor into the points for the event but we do understand that painting is not part of the hobby  that everyone enjoys.

4. Army Concept (0–15 pts)

Players vote for the coolest army concept – creativity, conversions, theme.
+5 pts per vote, max 15 pts.

• Player’s Player – Most sportsmanship votes

• Best Painted – Most 1st-place paint votes

• Coolest Army Concept
